ACTION PLAYBOOK:
Meet with Your Elected Official
Congrats for opening this playbook! Scheduling a constituent meeting is one of the most impactful actions you can take for the climate.
The ultimate goal of a constituent meeting is to build an authentic relationship with the elected official or their staffer. Using the resources and additional support in this Action Playbook, you’ll research your rep, gather a group of fellow constituents, and prepare two documents to make an effective policy ask. During the meeting, you’ll use both facts and anecdotes to encourage the official to take the action you want. Our elected representatives work for us, so we can and should hold them accountable.
-
Estimated time: 60-90 minutes.
You can start and come back anytime.
Because you’ll be waiting to hear back from staffers on calendar availability, and collaborating with others, this high-bar action will be accomplished over a few days/weeks. So worth it!
Our community also takes action together during drop-in Zoom meetups called Hours of Action. Join one here!
