Volunteer with Climate Changemakers

Join us in activating and equipping the most effective network of climate advocates in the country.

Climate Changemakers makes it simple for you, me, and everyone we know to meaningfully influence climate policy. Volunteers have powered this network of advocates since the beginning.

Two main ways to volunteer:

Host action events:

  • Climate Changemakers hosts drop-in action events called Hours of Action. This is where 90% of our climate advocacy happens! They’re a pretty big deal.

Volunteer Action Leads facilitate these events both on Zoom and in real life.

Staff provides a Run of Show and nonstop support behind-the-scenes. Action Leads provide the warm welcome to changemakers, ensuring they’re effectively using the resources to take meaningful action.

  • You’ve made it to this page on the internet!

Action Leads are friendly, personable, patient, and solutions-focused. Because it’s an essential role in Climate Changemakers’ day-to-day operations, it’s important to also be reliable, communicative, and collaborative.

Professionally, Action Leads come from all different backgrounds, from grad students to accountants to techies.

The time commitment depends on the frequency with which you host, but averages 2 hours/week.

Volunteer your skills:

  • A whole range of skills!

Data science, copywriting, SEO, UX, graphic design, community organizing, state policy know-how, video editing, HR, and more.

Climate Changemakers is a startup nonprofit that is optimizing to scale every day. If you want to contribute your skillset to our advocacy work and the climate movement at large, there’s likely a place for you to plug in!

  • Above all, it’s important to be reliable, communicative, and collaborative.

Professionally, volunteers come from all different backgrounds and experience levels.

Some roles are perfect for folks looking to expand their portfolio or apply specific skills to important work. Many roles don’t require a specialized skillset – just a willingness to roll up your sleeves and get to work!

  • Absolutely! Every project and role has an official scope of work and set of responsibilities. Whether you’re here to level up your skillset or apply years of experience, we definitely want you to own your contributions to the organization and our collective climate advocacy impact.

  • We get it! We’re all busy people and this is volunteered time.

Roles are generally set up as 3-month commitments or singular projects. When you apply to a position, do so with the anticipation of being fully committed for the length of the term or scope of the deliverables. You’ll sign an agreement that makes it super clear where your skills and time are needed!

Of course, if you’re busy one week or traveling another, that’s life. Good communication makes anything possible, so don’t stress!

After the 90-day term or project is complete, we mutually check in to determine if you want to renew or take a break.
