A note from our team in the wake of election results
Dear Changemakers,
We’re in a challenging moment. The election of a climate villain is hard to process. Losing the hard-fought pro-climate majority in the Senate hurts. Importantly, the House majority is still uncertain, as are many important state-level and other downballot races. But we are processing big results overnight. It’s a lot.
Today, we seek comfort and wisdom in the multi-generational history of climate and justice movements. Advocates on the right side of history have faced setbacks time and again, decade after decade. Together, we’ve built powerful, river-like movements that are resilient and persistent. We have the power, knowledge, and tools to keep advocating effectively. We also have a lot on our side, and this result is likely to galvanize many more people into action.
Our resolve will only deepen in the weeks and months ahead. For now, take good care of yourselves and each other; take a break from the news, be among the people and places you love, and remember you are part of a resilient, determined community.
The path ahead may look different than we’d hoped, but our mission is unchanged. We’ll continue to focus on concrete and actionable plans to ensure that climate progress endures. Tomorrow is another day.
In solidarity,
Eliza, Madeline, Rah, and Mwan
