ACTION PLAYBOOK:

Attend or Organize a Town Hall With Your Member of Congress

We need bold public policy that matches the scale and urgency of climate change.

Town halls are the easiest way to get in-person face time with your member of Congress. They give you an opportunity to ask your lawmaker directly—and publicly—for their stance on a given policy.

Because town halls are public, you may not get the candid answers there that you’d get meeting privately as a constituent with congressional staffers. What you will get is an on-the-record response to your concerns from the lawmaker themselves. And a room full of constituents listening to those responses is a room full of potential lifelong climate advocates.

  • Estimated time: Planning your own town hall is a long process that can’t be done in one sitting. But you can start and come back to this playbook anytime. Our community also takes action together during drop-in Zoom meetups called Hours of Action. Join one here!
